Guidewire is the leading provider of solutions for the non-life Insurance business with over 380 insurers using their software globally.


As an IBM business partner, Insight 2 Value (I2V) was engaged by one of the UK’s Leading Motor Insurance suppliers to install and configure a complete IBM Automation solution to wrap around their Guidewire Platform.

All inbound documents, both email and paper, are processed by IBM Datacap, IBM’s intelligent capture offering. This gives Call Handlers and Claim Assistants a view of every piece of customer content from within their Guidewire environment, saving time and effort looking up associated information and getting a complete view of the customer.

Insight 2 Value developed procedures to make calls to Guidewire to validate policy and claim numbers on incoming documents to prevent errors in associating customer documents with their Guidewire details, reducing human error and providing significant productivity savings.

As a result, all content gets safely and securely stored in the market-leading content management platform that is IBM FileNet.

Further Intelligent Automation is provided by a set of custom Windows services to notify Guidewire of newly created documents, together with a suite of APIs to enable the Guidewire package to access, display and update documents.

Managing the Exceptions

An application was designed and developed using IBM Case Manager to handle ‘exceptions’ e.g. documents where no policy or claim number can be found. The application gives a team of specialist handlers the ability to send emails requesting further information or to send the document elsewhere in the organisation.
